I thought it was time to reflect on recent months and to look at what I think the best betting systems of 2012 are likely to be. In recent months I’ve been testing betfair systems for football, horse racing and greyhounds as well as less obvious sports such as tennis and golf. So, let’s begin and the beginning and ask the question what makes the best betting systems? Ones that make us money of course! Sorry to sound flippant but that’s really the answer… isn’t it? Well actually let me expand with a few points on what I think make the best betting systems -

1) Consistent results from a betting expert. I hate to blow my own trumpet here but as a Betfair user since 200o I have used, tested and developed hundreds of systems over the past 12 years and I think that puts me in a good position as someone to follow. 2) A good number of selections … that are relatively easy to find. There’s always a balance of course but who wants to spend an hour a day researching form and data only to find one selection a week! The flipside is a winning betting system will not tell you to bet in every race.  As with anything in life some effort is required.

3) A sound logical basis. Whether you are looking at an in play football trading system for Betfair or a greyhound laying system the basic principle applies – why are we making these bets? The worst examples are what I call back-tested systems. If you see ridiculous rules like ‘the horse must have come 2nd in its last race and that must have been between 17 and 48 days ago on Good ground’ alarm bells should ring.

4) How about this one … A no risk betting system! Do they exist? Yes actually, they do. Some call them arbitrage betting systems, others call it Bonus Bagging. Basically what you do is use free bet offers from bookmakers and place counter-bets on Betfair. Whatever the outcome, you make a profit due the fact you have free money from the bookmaker. Before I end this article I just want to highlight one other system which has caught my eye in recent months.
